The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council, South West Nigeria for the 2015 general elections has been inaugurated in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The inaugural meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House was attended by members of the party drawn from Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Ondo states.
It was hosted by Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State who doubles as the South West Coordinator of the campaign.
Reading the communique at the end of the meeting, Governor Mimiko emphasised the urgent need to re-energise party structures in all the South West states towards winning the 2015 presidential and other elections.
The communique also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for yielding to the yearnings of the generality of the leaders and members of the PDP in accepting to run as the party’s candidate for the 2015 presidential election in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It also lauded the President’s commitment and dogged efforts in fighting the menace of insecurity.
It added that, in spite of these security challenges, Mr. President has made remarkable progress in the Nigerian economy, citing progress made in areas such as education, agriculture, road construction as well as the 2014 National Conference.
Mimiko also said in the communique that the PDP members also resolved to work together to ensure that President Jonathan wins the 2015 presidential election.
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, was also in attendance.
